Phil Parkinson became a defining figure in Wrexham’s modern revival after being appointed manager in 2021, shortly after the takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney; after narrowly missing promotion in his first season, Parkinson guided Wrexham to the 2022–23 National League title with a record 111 points, ending the club’s 15-year absence from the Football League, before securing a second successive promotion by finishing second in League Two in 2023–24; his organised, resilient side also produced memorable FA Cup runs, and in 2024–25 Parkinson completed an extraordinary third consecutive promotion by taking Wrexham into the Championship, transforming the club from non-league contenders into a second-tier side.
