Paul Mullin became the face of modern Wrexham because his goals turned takeover excitement into promotion reality. Signed in July 2021 after scoring freely for Cambridge United, he immediately became the club’s main striker and won the National League Golden Boot and Player of the Season award in 2021/22, even though promotion narrowly slipped away. He then drove Wrexham’s rise, scoring heavily as they won the National League in 2022/23 and followed it with another promotion in 2023/24. By October 2024 he had reached 108 goals for the club, putting him seventh on Wrexham’s all-time scoring list. His final Wrexham chapter was more complicated: after back surgery and a reduced role during the 2024/25 promotion season, he went out on loan in 2025. Even so, Mullin remains one of the defining players of the club’s recent revival.
