Dennis Lawrence’s Wrexham spell was about authority, leadership and one unforgettable goal. Signed in 2001, the Trinidad & Tobago centre-back became captain and a towering presence in one of the club’s most turbulent periods, making 229 competitive appearances and scoring 19 goals before leaving in 2006. He helped Wrexham win the Football League Trophy in 2005, but his defining moment came a year later in the FA Cup: his header beat Arsenal at the Racecourse on 7 January 2006, sealing a famous 2–1 win over a Premier League side. For many supporters, Lawrence symbolised resilience as much as quality.
