Karl Henry was a combative, hard-working midfielder who became a key figure for Wolves in the late 2000s and early 2010s. A Wolverhampton-born player, he joined the club in 2006 and went on to captain Wolves to the 2008–09 Championship title and promotion to the Premier League. He then led the side through three top-flight seasons, becoming known for discipline, leadership and defensive grit rather than flair. Across seven seasons at his hometown club, Henry made 272 appearances and scored 7 goals. He remains strongly associated with that promotion-winning era and later became a Wolves Foundation ambassador.
