Matt Doherty is one of Wolves’ modern-era success stories. Signed from Bohemians in 2010, he developed from a raw defender into a key wing-back, especially under Nuno Espírito Santo. He was central to Wolves’ rise from the Championship, their 2017–18 title win, and strong Premier League seasons that followed. Doherty became known for his stamina, late runs into the box, and surprising goal threat from wide areas. After leaving for Tottenham in 2020 and a brief spell at Atlético Madrid, he returned to Wolves in July 2023. His two spells together have made him a long-serving, widely respected figure at Molineux.
