Frank McAvennie was one of West Ham United’s most exciting forwards of the 1980s. Quick, sharp, and instinctive in front of goal, he formed a superb partnership with Tony Cottee and was central to the brilliant 1985–86 side that finished third in the First Division, one of the club’s best-ever league campaigns. McAvennie scored 26 league goals that season and became a fan favourite for his energy, movement, and natural finishing. He later returned for a second spell, which further strengthened his bond with supporters. For many West Ham fans, McAvennie represents flair, goals, and one of the club’s most entertaining teams.
