Paolo Di Canio’s famous scissor-kick volley came against Wimbledon in March 2000 while he was playing for West Ham United. A high cross from the right floated into the box, and Di Canio, with his back to goal, launched himself sideways to meet it with a spectacular scissor kick. The ball flew into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless. The goal was instantly hailed as one of the greatest in Premier League history. It won Goal of the Season and is still regularly shown as a symbol of technique, timing, and sheer audacity.
