Ian Rush (1980–1996) was Wales’ defining striker of his era, winning 73 caps and scoring 28 goals—a national scoring record until Gareth Bale surpassed it in 2018. He made his debut in 1980 and became Wales’ main finisher for more than a decade, known for sharp movement, ruthless penalty-box instincts, and big-game reliability. His standout international moments include the famous winning goal against West Germany in Euro 1992 qualifying and a rare hat-trick against the Faroe Islands in 1992.
