Brian McBride was one of the most important strikers in United States men’s national team history. He earned 95 caps and scored 30 goals for the USMNT, standing out for his aerial ability, toughness, and knack for scoring in big matches. He played in three World Cups—1998, 2002, and 2006—and became the first American man to score in multiple World Cups. His best tournament was 2002, when he scored against both Portugal and Mexico as the U.S. reached the quarterfinals. McBride was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2014 and later served as USMNT general manager.
