Luka Modrić’s Spurs spell (2008–2012) turned Tottenham into a serious team. Signed from Dinamo Zagreb, he brought calm control, quick passing, and that rare ability to escape pressure and dictate tempo. Modrić wasn’t flashy for the sake of it—he made Spurs tick, linking defence to attack and elevating everyone around him. Under Redknapp he helped drive the club to 4th in 2009–10 and a memorable 2010–11 Champions League run, where his midfield mastery stood out against Europe’s best. He left for Real Madrid in 2012, but Spurs fans still talk about him as pure class.
