Heurelho Gomes was Spurs’ charismatic, high-action goalkeeper from 2008 to 2012. Signed from PSV, he made an instant impact in the 2008 League Cup run—especially in the semi-final shootout win over Arsenal—helping Tottenham lift the trophy (their first since 1999). At his best he was a brilliant shot-stopper with big-game temperament and a real connection with fans. The flip side was occasional chaos: handling errors, risky decisions, and the odd shaky moment under crosses. Even so, he had plenty of match-winning performances and left remembered as a cult hero.
