Brendan Rodgers played a transformative role in the history of Swansea City A.F.C.. Appointed manager in 2010, Rodgers developed a possession-based, attacking style that earned Swansea widespread praise across English football. Influenced by Spanish football principles, his team focused on technical quality, patient passing and intelligent movement.

In the 2010–11 season, Rodgers guided Swansea to promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs, defeating Reading 4–2 at Wembley Stadium. The achievement was historic because Swansea became the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League. Players such as Ashley Williams, Leon Britton, Scott Sinclair, Joe Allen and Nathan Dyer flourished under Rodgers, and Swansea’s attractive football won admiration far beyond Wales. His success at Swansea later led to high-profile managerial roles at Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City.
