Michael Laudrup oversaw the most successful period in the history of Swansea City A.F.C.. Appointed manager in 2012, the former Barcelona and Real Madrid star built on the possession-based foundations created by Roberto Martínez and Brendan Rodgers while adding greater attacking flair and technical quality. Under Laudrup, Swansea played some of the most entertaining football in the Premier League and achieved a historic triumph by winning the 2013 League Cup. Swansea defeated Bradford City 5–0 at Wembley Stadium, securing the club’s first major trophy and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Players such as Michu, Jonathan de Guzmán and Wilfried Bony flourished under Laudrup’s management. Supporters remember his era for stylish football, memorable European nights and Swansea competing confidently against major clubs.
