Swansea City A.F.C. achieved one of the most important moments in the club’s history in 2011 by winning promotion to the Premier League for the first time. Promotion was secured with a dramatic 4–2 victory over Reading F.C. in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Scott Sinclair scored a hat-trick, while Stephen Dobbie added another goal in a thrilling match. The achievement was historic because Swansea became the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League. Players such as Ashley Williams, Leon Britton, Joe Allen and Nathan Dyer formed the core of a side praised across English football for its technical quality and fearless style.
