Chris Rigg is Sunderland AFC’s homegrown midfield prodigy: a left-footed attacking midfielder who mixes bite with creativity, carrying the ball through pressure and pressing aggressively. He debuted at 15 in January 2023 and, despite still being a teenager, has already logged 70+ senior appearances and chipped in with goals. He’s picked up English Football League recognition (including Championship Apprentice of the Season) and has progressed through England youth sides, reaching the England U19s. Sunderland tied him down with a long-term contract extension running to 2030.
