Ryan Shawcross became a Stoke City legend after initially joining on loan from Manchester United in 2007, helping Tony Pulis’ side win promotion to the Premier League before signing permanently in 2008; a commanding and uncompromising centre-back, Shawcross became club captain and was central to Stoke establishing themselves in the top flight, reaching the 2011 FA Cup final and competing in the Europa League; his consistency and leadership also earned him an England cap in 2012, while he remained with Stoke following their 2018 relegation; after more than 450 appearances across 14 years, Shawcross left for Inter Miami in 2021, establishing himself as one of the defining players of Stoke’s modern era.
