Ryan Shawcross was the defensive cornerstone of Stoke City’s Premier League rise under Tony Pulis. Signed from Manchester United in 2008, he quickly became captain and leader of a side built on organisation, physicality and resilience. Dominant in the air and fearless in challenges, Shawcross helped Stoke establish themselves as one of the hardest teams to face at the Britannia Stadium. He played a major role in the club reaching the 2011 FA Cup final and qualifying for Europe for the first time. Across more than a decade at Stoke, Shawcross became a symbol of loyalty, toughness and consistency, making him one of the club’s defining modern players.
