Tony Pulis transformed Stoke City FC into an established Premier League side. Across two spells, especially from 2006 to 2013, he built a tough, organised and highly physical team that became notorious for its intensity at the Britannia Stadium. Pulis led Stoke to promotion to the Premier League in 2008, then kept them in the division for five straight seasons. His side featured players such as Ryan Shawcross, Rory Delap, Robert Huth and Peter Crouch, using direct football, defensive discipline and Delap’s long throws to unsettle opponents. The peak came in 2011, when Stoke reached the FA Cup final and qualified for the Europa League for the first time.
