Steven Thompson joined St Mirren in 2011 and played for the club until his retirement in 2016. A lifelong Saints fan, he became a key figure both on and off the pitch. Thompson brought experience and leadership to a young squad, scoring regularly and leading the line with physicality and passion. His most memorable moment came in 2013, when he scored in the League Cup Final as St Mirren beat Hearts 3–2 to win their first major trophy in over 25 years. Across his five seasons, he made more than 150 appearances, becoming a fan favourite and later a respected media pundit.
