Gus MacPherson managed St Mirren from 2003 to 2010, guiding the club through a period of steady progress. Taking over when the team was mid-table in the First Division, he rebuilt the squad and led them to the 2005–06 First Division title, earning promotion to the Scottish Premier League. Under his leadership, St Mirren established themselves in the top flight and reached the 2010 Scottish League Cup Final, though they lost to Rangers. Known for discipline and organization, MacPherson’s tenure was marked by resilience and stability before he was dismissed in 2010 after seven years in charge — a significant modern-era run.
