St Mirren’s 2012–13 League Cup triumph was one of the greatest moments in the club’s history. Under Danny Lennon, Saints defeated Ayr United, Hamilton, Aberdeen, and famously Celtic in the semi-final to reach the final at Hampden Park. Facing Hearts on 17 March 2013, they came from behind after Ryan Stevenson’s early goal, with strikes from Esmaël Gonçalves, Steven Thompson, and Conor Newton securing a 3–2 victory. Stevenson scored again late, but St Mirren held firm to claim their first-ever League Cup. It was a landmark achievement, blending experience and youth, and delivering long-awaited silverware to the Paisley faithful.
