Nigel Adkins was the manager who drove Southampton’s climb from League One back to the Premier League. Appointed in September 2010, he guided Saints to back-to-back promotions: second in League One in 2010–11, then second in the Championship in 2011–12, sealing Premier League promotion with a 4–0 win over Coventry City on 28 April 2012. He was the first Southampton manager to achieve consecutive promotions and helped restore momentum, belief, and a clear attacking identity around players like Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, and José Fonte. His spell ended in January 2013, but he remains one of the key architects of Southampton’s modern revival.
