Siphiwe Tshabalala’s goal in the opening match of the 2010 World Cup is one of the tournament’s most iconic moments. Playing for South Africa against Mexico, Tshabalala received a pass on the edge of the box and smashed a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner. The strike sent the home crowd into wild celebration and became the first goal of the tournament. It symbolised hope, pride, and the spirit of the first World Cup held in Africa, and remains a legendary moment in football history.
