Harry McLoughlin is one of the most fondly remembered players in Sligo Rovers history. A local winger from Sligo, he joined the club in 1977 and spent roughly 12 years there, making 315 appearances and scoring just under 50 goals. His defining moment came in the 1983 FAI Cup final, when he scored the winning goal in a 2–1 victory over Bohemians, bringing Sligo their first ever FAI Cup. That strike remains one of the most iconic in the club’s story. In simple terms, McLoughlin was a long-serving wide player whose name is forever tied to Sligo Rovers’ great breakthrough day.
