Paul Cook was the manager who helped launch Sligo Rovers into one of the most successful modern spells in the club’s history. Appointed in April 2007, he steadily improved the side before delivering silverware in 2010 and 2011. Under Cook, Sligo won the League Cup in 2010 and back-to-back FAI Cups in 2010 and 2011, ending a long wait for major honours. He also took them to second place in the league in 2011 after a third-place finish in 2010. In simple terms, Cook laid the foundations for the trophy-winning era that followed and remains one of Sligo’s most important managers.
