Sligo Rovers’ 1983 FAI Cup win was one of the biggest days in the club’s history. They beat Bohemians 2–1 in the final at Dalymount Park on 24 April 1983, coming from behind after Barry Murphy had put Bohs in front. Tony Stenson equalised before Harry McLoughlin scored the winner, sealing Sligo’s first ever FAI Cup after losing their previous five finals. That is the key reason the match still carries so much weight in club history: it was not just a cup win, but a breakthrough moment that ended decades of near-misses and gave Sligo Rovers one of their defining triumphs.
