Phil Jagielka was one of Sheffield United’s best modern academy products and a huge figure in the club’s rise under Neil Warnock. After coming through the youth system, he broke into the first team in 2000 and became known for his versatility, playing in defence, midfield and even occasionally in goal. He was central to United’s 2005–06 promotion campaign, scoring eight league goals, then captained the side in the Premier League before leaving for Everton in 2007 for around £4 million. He later returned to Bramall Lane in 2019, reinforcing his status as a modern Blades favourite.
