Chris Basham was one of Sheffield United’s defining players of the Wilder era. Signed from Blackpool in 2014, he became a symbol of the club’s rise, helping the Blades win promotion from League One in 2016–17, then again to the Premier League in 2018–19, and once more in 2022–23. Sheffield United describe him as their longest-serving player, while the club and wider records credit him with 394 appearances before his 2024 departure. More than the numbers, Basham stood out for his versatility and for making the overlapping centre-back role one of United’s signatures under Chris Wilder.
