Barry Murphy was a key goalkeeper across two Shamrock Rovers spells and one of the club’s standout modern-era servants. A product of the Rovers youth system, he broke through in the mid-2000s, won the club’s Player of the Year award in 2005, and helped them win the 2006 First Division title. He later returned and was central to the 2013 season, when Rovers won the League Cup, Setanta Sports Cup and Leinster Senior Cup. Murphy was also named Shamrock Rovers Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014, which underlines how highly he was regarded at Tallaght.
