Ally McCoist was one of Scotland’s most natural penalty-box finishers, earning 61 caps and scoring 19 goals between 1986 and 1998. He debuted in a 0–0 friendly vs the Netherlands in April 1986, then became a regular through the late 80s and 90s. McCoist represented Scotland at the 1990 World Cup and at Euro 1992 and Euro 1996, where his most famous international moment is often cited as his long-range winner against Switzerland at Euro ’96.
