Since taking over as Scotland head coach in May 2019, Steve Clarke has built much of his team’s identity around Andy Robertson’s energy and leadership from left-back. Clarke has consistently trusted Robertson as a senior voice and on-pitch organiser, with Robertson serving as Scotland captain since 2018 and remaining a near ever-present in Clarke’s squads. Under Clarke, Robertson has been central to Scotland qualifying for major tournaments (including EURO 2020 and EURO 2024) and, more recently, helping drive Scotland back to a World Cup finals.
