Ross County’s landmark League Cup win came in the 2015–16 Scottish League Cup final on 13 March 2016 at Hampden Park, where they beat Hibernian 2–1 to lift the first major trophy in the club’s senior history. They led through Michael Gardyne (25'), before Liam Fontaine levelled for Hibs just before half-time. With extra time looming, Dutch striker Alex Schalk struck a 90th-minute winner, sparking wild scenes among the Staggies support. County’s road to Hampden included a famous 3–1 semi-final win over Celtic. The final drew 38,796 and was refereed by Kevin Clancy, with Jackson Irvine named man of the match.
