    Don Cowie is a Ross County academy product who became a reliable, hard-running right-sided midfielder and made 190+ appearances for the Staggies across two playing spells. After spells with Inverness CT, Watford, Cardiff, Wigan and Hearts, he returned to County, then retired in 2020 and moved straight into the coaching staff. He stepped up to become interim manager on 8 Feb 2024, and after keeping County up via the Premiership play-offs vs Raith Rovers, was confirmed as first-team manager on 4 July 2024. The club publicly backed him after relegation in 2025, but he left by mutual consent on 24 Aug 2025.
