Emilio Butragueño’s Real Madrid legacy is about elegance, intelligence, and leading one of the club’s great home-grown eras. He played for the first team from 1984 to 1995, making 463 official appearances and scoring 171 goals for Madrid. Nicknamed “El Buitre”, he became the symbol of the famous Quinta del Buitre, the generation that helped define Spanish football in the 1980s. Real Madrid’s official history credits him with 6 La Liga titles and 2 UEFA Cups, underlining how central he was to a hugely successful period. Butragueño mixed class, movement, and composure, and remains one of the club’s most respected and iconic forwards.
