Ibrox Stadium is one of the most iconic football stadiums in Britain and has been the home of Rangers F.C. since 1899. Located in the south-west of Glasgow, Ibrox is the third-largest football stadium in Scotland, with a capacity of approximately 51,700. The stadium is particularly famous for its red-brick Main Stand, designed by renowned architect Archibald Leitch, and for the atmosphere generated by Rangers supporters on major matchdays. Ibrox has witnessed many of the greatest moments in Rangers history, including league title celebrations, European triumphs and unforgettable Old Firm matches. It was the stage for the club's 1972 European Cup Winners' Cup celebrations and countless domestic successes. The stadium has also hosted Scotland international matches, cup finals and major events outside football. The history of Ibrox also includes tragedy. Disasters in 1902 and 1971 led to major changes in stadium safety and design. Following the 1971 disaster, the ground was extensively rebuilt into the modern all-seated stadium seen today. For Rangers supporters, Ibrox is more than a stadium. It is the spiritual home of the club, a place associated with legends such as John Greig, Ally McCoist, Walter Smith and James Tavernier, and the setting for some of the most memorable European nights in Scottish football history.
