Few goals are remembered more fondly by older Rangers F.C. supporters than Ian Durrant's winner against Celtic F.C. at Ibrox in August 1986. It came in Graeme Souness' first Old Firm match as Rangers manager and announced the arrival of a new era at the club. Durrant, still a teenager at the time, produced a moment of brilliance, driving forward from midfield before unleashing a superb strike that secured a 1–0 victory. The goal showcased the qualities that would make him one of Rangers' most admired players: technical skill, confidence, vision and the ability to deliver in the biggest matches. For many Rangers fans, the goal symbolised the beginning of the transformation that eventually led to domestic dominance under Souness and Walter Smith. Durrant would go on to become a key figure in the club's success, winning multiple league titles and playing an important role in the famous Nine-in-a-Row era. More than 40 years later, Durrant's strike remains one of the classic Old Firm goals and a cherished memory for generations of Rangers supporters.
