The 2020–21 season, known simply as “55” among supporters, was one of the most significant in the history of Rangers F.C.. Under Steven Gerrard, Rangers won their 55th Scottish league title, ending Celtic’s bid for ten consecutive championships and completing an unbeaten league campaign. At the heart of the success was goalkeeper Allan McGregor, whose experience and crucial saves provided a foundation for the team. Captain James Tavernier delivered one of the greatest seasons ever by a Rangers defender, combining leadership, goals and assists. Alongside him, Connor Goldson was ever-present in central defence, providing consistency and organisation. In midfield, Steven Davis controlled matches with intelligence and composure, while Ryan Kent supplied creativity and pace from wide areas. Up front, Alfredo Morelos remained the focal point of the attack, contributing important goals and relentless work rate. Together, McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Davis, Kent and Morelos formed the spine of the side that restored Rangers to the summit of Scottish football and delivered one of the club’s most cherished league titles.
