Raith Rovers’ League Cup win is the club’s most famous day: the 1994 Scottish League Cup final on 27 November 1994 at Ibrox, where they shocked Celtic. It finished 2–2 after extra time—Stephen Crawford (19') and Gordon Dalziel (86') for Raith, Andy Walker (32') and Charlie Nicholas (84') for Celtic—before Raith won the shoot-out 6–5. Goalkeeper Scott Thomson clinched it by saving Paul McStay’s penalty, with David Narey man of the match in front of 45,384. It was Raith’s first major trophy and launched their first European adventure, including the memorable UEFA Cup tie with Bayern Munich.
