Dave Thomas became a QPR legend after joining from Burnley in 1972, with the exciting winger playing a central role in one of the finest sides in the club’s history; renowned for his pace, dribbling and pinpoint crossing—famously playing with his socks rolled down—Thomas helped Rangers win promotion to the First Division in 1972–73 and was outstanding as Dave Sexton’s side came agonisingly close to the 1975–76 league title, finishing just one point behind Liverpool; alongside Stan Bowles and Gerry Francis, he helped QPR play some of England’s most attractive football and earned eight England caps before leaving Loftus Road for Everton in 1977.
