Charlie Austin became a QPR favourite after joining from Burnley in 2013, with his goals playing a major role in the club’s return to the Premier League through the 2014 Championship play-offs; after promotion, Austin produced an outstanding 2014–15 Premier League campaign, scoring 18 goals despite Rangers being relegated, including a memorable hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion; a powerful, instinctive penalty-box striker, he scored regularly throughout his first spell before joining Southampton in 2016, then returned to Loftus Road in 2021, initially on loan, and finished his QPR career with more than 60 goals, remaining one of the club’s most prolific modern forwards.
