Ross Caven is one of Queen’s Park’s ultimate “one-club men”. A defender, he played for the Spiders from 1982 to 2002, racking up 532 league appearances and an extraordinary 96 league goals. He debuted aged 17, made his 500th appearance in January 1999, and in April 2000 broke the club’s long-standing appearance record. As captain, he led Queen’s Park to the 1999–2000 Third Division title—the club’s key league success of his era. After retiring, he stayed involved off the pitch, serving on the club’s committee/board.
