Queen’s Park’s 1955–56 season was one of the most memorable in the club’s amateur era of the 20th century. Competing in Scotland’s Second Division, they finished as champions, earning promotion to the First Division for the first time since before World War II. Managed by Eddie Turnbull, the Spiders combined youth and experience, playing an attractive passing style true to the club’s traditions. They won the league with 47 points from 34 matches, edging Ayr United and Third Lanark. Key players included Alex Ferguson (forward)—before his legendary managerial career—and Frank Crampsey in goal. The 1955–56 triumph remains one of Queen’s Park’s landmark post-war achievements.
