David Moyes transformed Preston North End FC after becoming manager in 1998. Taking over with the club in the third tier, Moyes built a disciplined, organised and highly competitive side that quickly climbed the divisions. His biggest achievement came in 1999–2000, when Preston won the Second Division title and returned to the second tier. Players such as Sean Gregan, Jon Macken and Paul McKenna became central to the team’s identity. Moyes also guided Preston to the 2001 Championship play-off final, narrowly missing promotion to the Premier League before leaving for Everton in 2002. His spell is remembered as the start of Preston’s strong modern era.
