Jon Macken was a key striker for Preston North End FC during their rise under David Moyes. Signed from Mansfield in 1999, he quickly became known for pace, movement and composed finishing. Macken played a major role in Preston winning the Second Division title in 1999–2000 and scored heavily as the club established itself in the Championship. His best season came in 2001–02, when his goals fired Preston into the play-offs. His form at Deepdale earned him a move to Manchester City in 2002, but he remains one of Preston’s standout modern forwards.
