Willie Sharp (1922–1992) is one of Partick Thistle’s greatest-ever players and the club’s record scorer. An inside forward/centre-forward, he signed in 1939 and Thistle were his only senior club, staying until 1957. Thistle credit him with 571 appearances and 228 goals across 17 years (including wartime football), and note he reached seven cup finals. He’s also famed for a lightning strike against Queen of the South in December 1947, scored just seconds after kick-off. Inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2010.
