Partick Thistle’s famous 4–1 win over Celtic came in the 1971 Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park on 23 October 1971. In one of Scottish football’s biggest shocks, Davie McParland’s newly promoted Jags tore into Jock Stein’s Celtic, racing 4–0 up inside 37 minutes: Alex Rae (10’), Bobby Lawrie (15’), Denis McQuade and Jimmy Bone. Kenny Dalglish pulled one back with around 20 minutes left, but Thistle held firm in front of 62,470. It remains Thistle’s only League Cup triumph.
