John Lambie is one of Partick Thistle’s defining managers, serving four spells in charge (including 1988–89, 1990–95, 1999–2003, and a brief caretaker stint in 2004–05). He led the Jags to the top flight in 1992 and then, in the early 2000s, delivered the club’s famous back-to-back promotions that took Thistle from the third tier to the SPL. Loved for his larger-than-life touchline presence and his partnership with Gerry Collins, Lambie’s legacy is literally built into Firhill: the North Stand was renamed the John Lambie Stand after his death in April 2018.
