Jackie Husband (John Husband, 1918–1992) is one of Partick Thistle’s defining figures. A commanding centre-half, he signed for Thistle in 1938 and made around 371 first-team appearances (12 goals) either side of WWII. He was famed for his huge 40-yard throw-ins and captained Thistle to the wartime Summer Cup in 1945. After his playing days he essentially never left Firhill, serving the club for decades in roles including trainer, coach, physio and kitman. The Jackie Husband Stand at Firhill is named in his honour.
