Stuart “Banzo” Bannigan is a modern Partick Thistle stalwart: a Celtic youth release who joined Thistle as an apprentice in 2009, debuted aged 17 in July 2010 (Challenge Cup vs Clyde), then did a key loan spell at Ayr United that helped them win promotion via the play-offs. Back at Firhill he became an engine-room ever-present—versatile, tenacious, and happy doing the dirty work—playing a major role in the 2012–13 title-winning side and later helping Thistle bounce back by winning League One in 2020–21. A serious knee injury in 2016 ruled him out for around two years, but he fought back, was inducted into the Hall of Fame (2022) and had a testimonial year (2023). He left in June 2025 after 441 senior appearances, recognised by the club as a two-time title winner and “undisputed Jags legend.”
