Brian Clough and Peter Taylor were the key partnership behind Nottingham Forest’s greatest era. Clough was the manager and motivator: blunt, charismatic, and obsessed with standards, he created the culture and clarity of play. Taylor, his assistant, was the talent-spotter and recruiter, repeatedly identifying players who fit Forest’s system and mentality. When Taylor joined Clough at Forest in 1976, the impact was immediate: promotion, the 1977–78 First Division title, League Cups, and then the remarkable back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980. Their relationship later fractured, but together they built an all-time football story.
